ive never grown it but the ORA website has this info:
The Blue Hypnea is a resilient species that will grow in most lights but will look its absolut best if it is a given a position with an intermediate level of light, (for a marine reef tank). They will grow in more low light environments but will never really thrive or look as good as it can unless it is given an adequate level of light.
They prefer a nutrient rich water with plenty of free Iodine in the water. Regular use of Iodine supplements are recommended if you want to grow this and other Hypnea species

They also require warm temps. I lost mine as well when I put it in the seahorse tank at 70 degrees. I was able to save pieces that I moved to my frag tank and it was okay in there until my light fell into that tank and I had to quickly clean it out quick loosing it in the shuffle.
I did read the ora website. Thsnks. But did not look healthy from the get go. It was green with very little blue and some light reds through the chunks. After observing this for the last few days blue is gone . Very little green lots of red and now some looks of being completely bleached out. I've been working on setting up a frag tank. It's now good to go. I'm going to flip them to that tank to see if that reverses the problem.
