Naso Not Eating And Acting Weird

I noticed yesterday that my naso almost 6inches long and been in the tank for 4 years suddenly stopped eating, always been a pig. I also noticed he had a pinched stomach this morning. Very lethargic with burst of quick swimming.
Everyone else is healthy and fat. Checked ammonia and reading 0 ( tank in 5th year)

No fish added since the foxface almost a month ago.

Very strange no real aggression other than the hippo being goofy like always.

I have seen that when they have tape worms. Also any puncture marks on the tang? Foxface have venomous spines and could have poked the tang.

I agree that it sounds like an intestinal parasite (worm) based on the symptoms

Needs to go into a QT tank with meds - usually pretty easy to cure

Could have been the foxface it was last introduced. I found sometimes if I didn't specifically treat for worms then they got past my qt.

It could be too that they have always been there and showed no signs.. I would deworm the entire tank as well. there are products out there that are coral safe as well. I started using ParaGuard by Seachem.. there are so many sources that could of gotten into the tank, never know..
I have dogs and they get dewormed faithfully every month, never know, I will feed what they want by I will be dammed if I am going to feed worms..

Yea I will pick up some med food for worms too. But bandit (naso) isn't eating seems to need oxygenated flow. I have become very attached to him he is my second tang in my 180 he is very friendly and full of personality

Has the Naso started to eat? Sounds like too much Protein and not enough greens. A couple foods I would recommend are Omega with Garlic my Naso goes nuts for it even more then NLS and the other is the New Era Mini Marine Grazer you can smell the seaweed in it. I put one in about 3 to 4 times in the evening and they can graze on overnight. Big huge poops from him.

I was thinking the same thing, I do feed a veggie line pellet with nori 3x a week. But have to feed mysis daily.
Right now I'm soaking nori and pellets in selcon hopefully will trigger feeding.

just googled it, I make my own food and the last batch I started adding vitamins, I use the vitality by seachem..I sometimes wonder if there is enough (vitamins and nutrients) in the commercial foods and how old are they when we get them..

I soaked both nori and pellets in the selcon for about 10min - a little goes a long way.

Way easier then having to treat for worms. I had the same issue before and the vitamin in the food never worked so I had to treat for worms. That fixed the fish right up. So at least it got better without having to treat.
