Looks like your torch is splitting? If I'm looking at right coral.

True enough it is. The golden torch is just below the foxface in the bottom left corner.

I love all those type of corals, my green torch has about 15 heads, two face frogspawn has 10 heads (currently splitting to that), pink tip frogspawn at 3 heads now and of course the gold torch that is splitting into 2 right now. I just cut a frag of green torch and two face for a friend. So great.

Not sure how many people noticed the lack of room in my cabinet making it impossible to get my skimmer cup and skimmer out of the sump as well as the return pump. Until now, I have been carefully cleaning them while remaining inside my sump. So today I took one of pulpfiction1's theory's and put it to the test. He has told me in the past that you can make an overflow in a drillable tank by drilling two holes, then score between them and to the top of the tank, then break that section off. Well, here it is...a proven fact, mostly though as I was taking the section right off, not making an overflow. Main trick is to be careful and tap the glass to break it along the score line which is very unnerving.

Really dig your setup and the sump trimming is a great idea!!!

Thank you. Beats getting a new sump, which I do plan on building down the road. Was scared half to death doing it, but well worth it.

I remember as well. I was just going to cut clean across the whole tank to make it shorter, but then I would have had to mess with my baffles as well, remove, cut, re silicone, wait etc etc. Took about 2 hours and I am back up and running. Now just going to give my skimmer a clean and tidy up.

And the completed project minus adding silicone to attach the trim and smooth the sharp glass edge. All and all, well worth the effort and 0$ update to the tank.

Before putting the skimmer back in

Side - I trimmed off the one side of the tank as well so I can easily get to the return pump and ATO set up that used to be just as tight to work in.

Yes it is.

I am dealing with a lack of maintenance issue right now, which is leading to too much algea. Hopefully things will slow down in a month or so and I can give it more attention.
