Ya I have read through some stuff there but I use it more for ideas lol I'm more of a scratch build guy kits became too easy :). As for parts the local shop treats me pretty good and I hate online stuff it kills our brick and mortar stores and damn shipping. We now only have two hobby stores nearby one in Cambridge one in Kitchener and there used to be 5 :(. If I really need something specific hobby hobby in Toronto is amazing

PM me if you need info about electric power... lipo, brushless etc....

wont be going lipo that's for sure nimh is cheaper plus I could use the extra weight anyway (it's a tanker not a speed demon lol) Going to get fiberglass today so hopefully I can test it in the tub in a few days and figure how much weight I need to get the waterline right then I can decide on a motor, esc, battery combo but will definately run my thoughts by you. If two minds agree it sure gives more confidence than "I hope I figured right". I figure I'm probably gonna have to use about 25lb for ballast so good thing I got some bricks and big bolts laying around lol. Just hope ct has their marine epoxy resin in stock the bondo automotive is poly and can't really do that inside lmao.

Do you already have nimh ?

The recycle bin at home depot is your friend. If its weight you need try a lead acid battery. Simple charging, gobs of mah, and free from the bin (some just need water). Also there are lots of drill packs with good cells in them. Again free from the bin. Courtesy would be to ask first. Also do you have a smart charger ?

Cheers

Ya I have some crazy brain something smart controller with trickle charge lol it charges my lipo for the truck and nimh for the starter and about anything else you can hook up. Plus charges a huge range of voltage also it auto detects what it needs with a test phase and stops charging if batt gets hot. Might hot wire a few different motors I have downstairs and see what they do with a prop. Those old printers have some pretty decent motors I've ripped out :)

Well I have a hull. Now have to sand inside and add reinforcement to places with a second layer and fill in any spots that were thin against the mold. Thanks to my dual 500w Spotlight drying outside wasn't a problem today and took the required 2 hours all in all looks good and my mold survived not that it needed to :)

Started with a DJI Phantom Clone my Girlfriend bought me for Christmas last year
They now sell for $118.00 SYMA X8C

Bit of advise stay away from the "H" models they have altitude hold that can cause some people issues with the drone falling out of the sky.

Great Toy grade Drone, Fly's awesome, and really teaches you how to Fly a Drone properly as it doesn't have GPS or Barometer (So your actually flying the thing and not relaying on the internal Tech) Also replacement parts are dirt cheap. (New shell 22 bucks, new Motors $18.00 for 4 etc)

That being said, I'm building my own drone now. I am going to use a Syma X8 Shell (as I don't like the looks of the naked drones) and stick in the following hardware inside it somehow

Plan is:
Naze 32 Full Flight Computer.
RCGool 920KV Brushless Mototrs (Same used in the DJI 2/3)
20 amp ESC Afro Race Spec
Power Distribution Board

After I get that flying, I'll add GPS and FPV.

Still deciding on the Transmitter anyone have experience with the Turnigy TGY-i6S ?

I'm still floored how much DJI Charges from a Drone when you can build a better one for less then half.

That's why I'm scratch building my tanker THERE IS NO WAY IM SPENDING $800 AGAIN ON AN RC. total build cost for me will be $200 including remote, receiver, motor, Esc, and all build materials.

I've wanted to build a drone. A big Star Wars galactic destroyer flying around would get some heads turning lol. And a little heads up about drones they are gonna be banned inside Canadian city limits soon thanks to morons crashing windows and invading privacy so don't go spending too much. They are going to group them with RC planes for regulations. A kid in the complex just got told by the popo that if you have a drone with a cam and someone doesn't like it you can be charged for harassment. Frigin Canadian laws.

That banggood.com isn't bad at all lol so far found a 21turn waterproof motor, 60a waterproof brushed ESC, and transmitter with receiver for $109 not bad at all considering I have only spent $60 on material so far and already have a battery. Now to get my Dremel charged and cut out my hull final shape before final sanding. Once done and top section built I may or may not rig a few port lights, main cabin light, spotlight and navigation lights and just hook up to a battery and a switch. Would be pretty funny seeing a lit mini tanker coming through riverside park lmao.

Should I rig a servo to air horn lmao I am getting a 4 channel remote/receiver :D

Banggood.com gearbest.com and hobbyking.com all great sites for RC, Shipping is usually about 3 weeks (as they all come from China) But no import fee's as they send regular mail

I hear they are going to follow the US in regards to Drone Laws, You will need a license and insurance to fly one.

I see far to many Idiots flying Drones way to high and far, As an Ultralight Pilot one of my fears lately has been flying into a drone and getting killed or crashing my aircraft.

Couple idiots ruin it for the rest of us.

Don't fly your drone above 500ft (That's were us regular pilots like to fly)
Don't fly your drone over crowed areas.
Don't fly your drone over someone's property
Don't fly your drone in restricted airspace (Like near an airport)

Common sense you'd think huh!

I understand the whole freedom thing but if a drone comes snooping in my yard or windows I'm a shooting it down
I'm with you although the popo don't like it when you discharge a 12ga in city limits. I think that they should treat them like rc planes where you have to get your license and have insurance.

Yay tomorrow hull will be cut, sanded and water tested not that there's any holes after two layers and 3 coats of resin. Then hopefully get some cheap balsa or basswood somewhere and star planning the deck sections.
