xbox 360 qu

first off, i dont wanna hear xbox sucks blah blah blah because i really dont care about your opinion on this

my disk drive just crapped out on my xbox 360 fat
i have an old xbox 360 still that RROD on me about a year ago,
would i be able to pull them both apart and just swap out the disk drives?
or is it more complicated than that...
cant seem to get a definite answer online, so i figured id ask you guys

Do you mean the optical disc or harddrive? You can get a new laser from ebay for like 8 bucks and i believe easy to install.

Brandon I don't think you can swap the parts over. I tried this with an older version of the 360 and it wouldn't work.

The on on mine just clips on I thought.. The hard drives are remove able and interchangeable.

i think it depneds what version of xbox.  i know sam got a bigger hard drive off nextegg

If the part numbers aren't the same on both drives it won't work. Assuming you don't mean the hard drive and the drive that has the tray the disk sits in.

yea the DISK drive, that sucks...
well im gonna take them apart and try, if it doesnt work it doesnt work, both are crap anyways so best i can do is try fix one lol

ill check out the serial # as you suggested pat, i saw something mentioning that online as well

i took it all apart and hooked the old disk drive, it 'worked' but the xbox treated it like a DVD drive and did not read games, oh well, i tried lol

I've got 2-360s here.  My kid wanted one but I can't just be giving consoles away so we bought him a new one.  New ones have built in wifi.
